Email Marketing Tips

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure to hear Myriam Cohen, Founder of Equilibrix at an event hosted by the Tower Club of Fort Lauderdale Members.  Myriam’s program was about using Email Marketing effectively and successfully.

Myriam talked about how important a good strong email marketing campaign is to business today.  Not only is it affordable (much less expensive than direct mail) it can be uniquely personalized to cater to each individual customer‘s needs and wants. And you can get real-time data about who viewed your campaign, when it was opened and if and when they clicked on the links in the campaign. Myriam talked how important it was to keep your clients up to date and informed on your products and services. Never overestimate how much your clients know about what you offer and don’t.  You could pick up the phone today and find out that most clients have no idea the scope of your products and services. Especially if they have only purchased from one division or product range.

She also shared the following tips with the group:

  1. Capture clients and prospects’ email address
  2. Your subject line should grab the recipient’s attention
  3. Every flyer should have a ‘call to action.’
  4. Send your e-flyer to a test list before full distribution.
  5. Remove duplicate email addresses before sending to distribution list.
  6. Make it easy for people to opt-out (it’s the law).
  7. Encourage recipients to forward your flyer by providing an “email to a friend” option on the flyer.
  8. Monitor the frequency of your email campaign – don’t under or over mail.
  9. Track views and click-thrus to measure effectiveness.
  10. Find Joint-venture ops to pool emails with similar non-competing businesses – share but never exchange email addresses.
